SANTA CLARA, California, June 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Calsoft Labs (An ALTEN Group Company) selects Ixia to test the performance and scalability of high performance Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) meant for commercial NFV deployments
Calsoft Labs, a pioneer in Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions, announced today that it has selected Ixia (XXIA) as its test partner for performance and scalability testing of high performance carrier-grade Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) meant for commercial NFV deployments.
Telecom operators are increasingly looking at NFV to reduce CapEx and OpEx by leveraging COTS hardware while accelerating the ability to develop and deploy new, revenue generating services. Calsoft Labs offers a suite of high performance VNFs, NFV orchestration framework, and systems integration services for NFV implementation by telecom operators.
With its broad range of network test solutions, Ixia is at the forefront of helping enterprises, service providers and equipment manufacturers test, validate and benefit from next-generation SDN and NFV deployments in order to keep pace with new technologies and standards, which helps ensure the networks are functioning properly and effectively. Ixia also offers platforms to test virtualized assets and environments while leveraging the trusted tools that have been used for testing hardware-based networking technologies for over a decade.
Calsoft Labs uses Ixia products such as IxNetwork, IxLoad and Xcellon-Ultra™ to test functionality, performance and scalability of carrier-grade Intel® DPDK optimized Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) designed for deployment in Telco data centers.
"Ixia products such as IxLoad and Xcellon-Ultra have been a valuable asset to us as we continue to push the envelope for VNF performance, scalability and reliability at Calsoft Labs," said Narendra Dhara, Senior VP of Engineering and CTO, Calsoft Labs. "We look forward to work closely with Ixia to offer robust NFV solutions to our customers".
"The benefits of moving toward virtualizing and operationalizing network appliances are undeniable; however, this is still a very challenging task for carriers as it creates new performance bottlenecks," said Michael Haugh, Product Marketing Director at Ixia. "In order to maintain carrier grade performance and optimally provision virtualized resources, testing is critical; and we are excited to work with Calsoft Labs, a leader in cutting edge virtualized solutions optimized for carrier requirements."
Calsoft Labs is a pioneer in NFV and SDN with a track record of having delivered few of the industry's first commercially deployed virtual appliances and SDN applications. A wholly owned subsidiary of the €1.2 billion ALTEN Group, Calsoft Labs offers telecom product engineering and systems integration services across the entire value chain from product development to network deployment and operations support.
