CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 9, 2012) - Canadian Spirit Resources Inc. ("CSRI" or the "Corporation") (TSX VENTURE:SPI) (OTCBB:CSPUF.PK - News) is pleased to announce the appointment of Alfred Sorensen, CA of Calgary, Alberta as a director of the Corporation effective immediately.
Mr. Sorensen is currently an independent consultant. Following a successful 15 year career of senior and executive positions within North American and European deregulated energy markets, Mr. Sorensen founded Galveston LNG Inc., a company focused on the international trade of liquefied natural gas with projects in Canada, Nigeria, Oman and Australia. Kitimat LNG, one of Galveston's projects in Canada, was sold to two major American producers in 2010 and joined by a major Canadian producer in 2011.
Mr. Sorensen is a member of the Business Advisory Council at the University of Alberta Business School and an Executive in Residence at the same institution. He has been recognized for his contribution to the arts, education and charitable foundations in Alberta.
Mr. Sorensen is a chartered accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta.
Commenting on Mr. Sorensen's appointment as a director of CSRI, George Watson, Chairman of the Board stated that "Alfred's knowledge of the rapidly growing international trade in LNG and his energy industry experience will be a valuable addition to the Board of Directors as the Corporation pursues the development of its large natural gas resource project at Farrell Creek, British Columbia".
The Corporation proposes to grant Mr. Sorensen stock options to acquire 75,000 shares subject to approval of the TSX Venture Exchange. Issued pursuant to the terms of the Corporation's Stock Option Plan, these options will have a term of five years and an exercise price of C$0.75 per share, the same price as the Corporation's private placement of units closed in December 2011.
