SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire -05/10/12)- CHG Healthcare Services, a healthcare staffing firm based in Salt Lake City, made Fortune magazine's list of the top 50 companies who hire women. Women make up 60 percent of all employees at CHG, earning CHG the 27th place on a list which ranked companies from the Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" based on the percentage of women hired in a company's work force. 2012 marks CHG's third year in a row being recognized as one of the nation's top companies to work for and its first year as one of the nation's top 10 companies.
Women fill nearly half the leadership roles at CHG. In fact, CHG's largest and most profitable business, CompHealth locum tenens, is led entirely by women including division President, Melissa Byington, and her team of three female vice presidents.
"During my early years at CHG I was a single mother of a four-year-old daughter and had many competing demands and responsibilities," Byington said. "Other employers would have viewed my situation as a single parent and need for flexibility as less than ideal. But I am fortunate to work for a company where ability, knowledge and passion are more important than your personal circumstance or gender."
As the President of CompHealth locum tenens, Ms. Byington organizes, motivates and inspires more than 400 employees. She has also been joined by her daughter, Mikayla Byington, now 19 years old, who works as an administrative assistant at CompHealth.
"The culture at CHG is truly wonderful," Mikayla Byington said. "I'm allowed to be my own person and work outside the shadow of my mom, but I love that I get to see her all the time. She is my role model and I'm glad I get to see her succeed."
Knowing the problems many professional women face when juggling the demands of work and home, CHG's executive leaders actively support female employees in achieving their professional goals without negatively impacting their home and family responsibilities.
"At CHG, we are constantly looking for ways we can support our employees in balancing their personal and professional lives, including the lives of the mothers within our company," said Mike Weinholtz, CHG's CEO. "Our increased emphasis on wellness includes initiatives designed to support employees in all facets of their lives and improves their quality of life."
CHG focuses on the welfare of female professionals by offering a number of unique benefits open to all employees, including flexible schedules, healthcare benefits for all family members, on-site fitness centers, bi-monthly massages at discounted costs, free weekly yoga and Pilates classes, tuition reimbursement, breast cancer awareness classes and a maternity program.
