China downplays cyberthreat

A Chinese think tank says telecom giants Huawei Technologies and ZTE, which compete with Motorola (MSI), Apple (AAPL) and other U.S. companies, aren't capable of inserting code in their products to let Beijing spy on America. White House officials have said there's been no inquiry into possible spying by Chinese companies. Apple shares rose 1.1% to 589.36. Motorola was flat.
