Chromecast’s easy setup makes it susceptible to hacking
Google’s Chromecast streaming stick is remarkably easy to set up for a TV streaming device that doesn’t even have a remote control. However, that setup process also involves the Chromecast briefly functioning as an open, unrestricted Wi-Fi access point — and that’s what helped a clever hacker to take over the device and play Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up. In other words: Chromecasts can be rickrolled.
