Chrysler March sales jump 34 percent

DETROIT (AP) -- Chrysler Group LLC said its March U.S. car and truck sales rose 34 percent as all of its brands saw gains.

BY THE NUMBERS: Chrysler sold 163,381 cars and trucks, up from 121,730 a year earlier.

TOP SELLERS: Chrysler sold 26,960 Ram pickups, up 23 percent from March 2011. It was the automaker's most popular model.

HOT MODELS: Sales of Chrysler 200 midsize sedans more than doubled to 14,914, and its 300 model luxury sedan also more than doubled to 7,336. Jeep Grand Cherokee sales rose 43 percent to almost 14,096. Sales of the Dodge Chrysler minivan rose 43 percent to 13,700, and the similar Chrysler Town & Country minivan rose 32 percent to 12,476. The carmaker also sold 3,712 Fiat 500s.
