VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec 11, 2012) - Climb For Change is excited to partner with the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) in celebrating International Mountain Day by officially opening the 16th Annual Mountain Photography Competition.
"Photographs play a huge part in creating awareness about the importance of mountains to life," says Climb For Change president and co-founder Mike Schauch. "Through this mountain photography competition, we hope to continue to bring people together from around the world to share perspectives, learn from each others'' experiences, and inspire each other to reconnect with our natural environment."
Established by the United Nations and observed annually on December 11, International Mountain Day''s mission is "to create awareness about the importance of mountains to life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development, and to build partnerships that will bring positive change to the world''s mountains and highlands."
Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit entries to the mountain photo competition through the Climb For Change Facebook page in the categories of Mountain Sport, Mountain Culture, Mountain Landscape, and Mountain Flora and Fauna. In addition, the Climb for Change People''s Choice Award presented by Arc''teryx will be conducted through online voting.
The competition starts on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 and closes on January 15, 2013. Winning entries will be announced and displayed at the VIMFF 2013 from February 8 to 17, 2013 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
