Clinton Vs. Trump: How To Watch Tonight’s Debate
This being 2016, there are myriad options for watching tonight’s first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Unlike the first televised POTUS faceoff pitting Sen. John F. Kennedy and VP Richard Nixon on this date in 1960, potential voters needn’t huddle around black-and-white sets tuned to one of the Big 3 networks — though CBS, ABC and NBC will air it, along with “upstart” Fox.
But TV obviously isn’t the only way to take in tonight’s action — which counts as the most anticipated debate in modern American history and will draw an audience much closer to a Super Bowl than the 23 million who watched Trump’s first GOP debate on CNN a year and a week ago.
NBC News’ Lester Holt is moderating the commercial-free, 90-minute debate, which starts at 6 PM PT from Hofstra University on Long Island. Here’s a look at where to set your TV dial, your browser or your radio while you playing the drinking game of your choice. And might we suggest hydrating throughout? On TV
All four national networks plus will carry the debate, along with their cable news counterparts and PBS, Telemundo and Univision. Also onboard tonight are such cable outlets as C-SPAN, Bloomberg TV, CNBC and Fox Business News. The latter two hosted GOP debates last year, with CNBC drawing 14 million and FBN scoring 13.5 million viewers; both set records for the nets.
Online
All of the broadcast and cable news nets will stream the debate on their respective websites, along with such politics-heavy sites as Buzzfeed, Huffington Post and Politico. If you’re feeling social, the Trump-Clinton throwdown will stream on such usual subjects as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and YouTube.
On radio
NPR is covering tonight’s debate along with local news stations in various cities.
