Available now, this integration enables consumers to add and use loyalty cards from their favorite retailers to the Google Wallet mobile app on Android and iOS. In addition, participating retailers and brands can easily and cost-effectively promote their loyalty programs to customers on mobile devices, without the time and cost incurred from custom mobile app development.

The Clutch platform powers loyalty, rewards, gift and promotional programs for more than 350 merchants, including well-known brands such as Godiva Chocolatier, Harley Davidson, Swatch, Dooney & Bourke, Life is Good, Pandora Jewelry, Lacoste and The Body Shop. Google Wallet is a free digital wallet that securely stores a consumer’s credit cards, debit cards, offers, loyalty cards and more. With Google Wallet, consumers can buy in-store and online, as well as send money to merchants and friends.

How it Works

When consumers access the main menu of the Google Wallet, they now see an option to access loyalty programs. From there, they can browse a list of programs available from participating retailers and add their cards by typing their membership number or scanning a bar code. Consumers also can enroll in new programs instantly using information already stored in their Google Wallet. Their membership is then immediately validated and their cards are available for immediate use.

Once consumers add loyalty cards to their mobile wallet, they will be able to view rewards points balances, see program benefits, and receive customized offers and promotions. They also can present their phone to the merchant at the point of sale in a store for a loyalty account to be applied or for a reward to be redeemed.

In addition to helping consumers use loyalty cards, the Google Wallet integration greatly benefits retailers and merchants because they can promote their loyalty program to mobile users without having to build a custom app. It provides another distribution platform for their loyalty programs and a new way to reach their best customers with offers and promotions tailored for them. Finally, merchants can improve the speed at which they can complete transactions since consumers can find and present their loyalty cards faster with Google Wallet.
