According to people familiar with the matter, CME Group (CME) has approached Deutsche Boerse (DBOEY) to consider starting discussions on a merger, Bloomberg reports. CME reportedly contacted Deutsche Boerse at the end of 2012, before IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) announced plans to buy NYSE Euronext (NYX). The companies have not yet made a decision on whether to begin formal takeover talks.
