•    American Medical Association may support a ban on advertising of energy drinks. Following these reports, shares of Monster Beverage Corp (NASDAQ:MNST) declined 4.4%

•    Following reports that Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC) and Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) could merge, shares of Time Warner and Charter Communications surged 8.1% and 5.2%, respectively

•    Shares of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) remained unaffected while shares of Elan Corporation, plc (NYSE:ELN) surged 8.3% after Johnson & Johnson sold 25.4 million shares of Elan back to the company
