U.S. consumer sentiment is the only scheduled economic release on the calendar today as attention continues to focus on political and budgetary risks.
The report will be released at 9:55 a.m. ET by the University of Michigan. Economists predict an improvement to 83.3 from 82.6 last month.
It's not clear how much the news will affect sentiment because investors are increasingly worried about government crisis in Europe and the United States.
