Eye care and surgical products maker The Cooper Cos. Inc. appointed Daniel McBride to the newly created position of chief operating officer, executive vice president and general counsel.
The new position is effective Nov. 1, the company said Wednesday.
McBride joined Cooper in 2005, and was most recently vice president, general counsel and chief risk officer at the Pleasanton, Calif.-based company. McBride worked as an attorney concentrating on mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance before going to Cooper.
"He has been instrumental in supporting our growth and development as a member of my executive team, and this new role will strengthen our focus on achieving our long-term operational goals," said Cooper's CEO Robert Weiss in a statement.
Cooper's shares fell $1.41, or 1 percent, to close at $129.75 Wednesday.
