Credit card rates remained unchanged this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 14.58 percent. The average APR for fixed-rate credit cards didn't budge from 14.02 percent, where it has been for eight straight weeks.

While nearly a third of consumers plan to cut back on holiday spending this year, 1 in 4 expects to put enough Christmas expenses on credit cards that paying off the bills will take more than three months, according to a new survey from myFICO.com. Almost two-thirds expect to charge less than $500 this holiday season, and only 1 in 5 will consider opening a new credit card account.
