SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 31, 2012) - Crunchyroll, Inc., the leading Anime and Asian content streaming service announces the official launch of its streaming service into Brazil. For the first time ever, Brazilian viewers can stream the latest titles in their local language immediately following original TV broadcast in Japan.
Crunchyroll is also adding Brazilian Portuguese as a supported language in addition to English and Spanish. The majority of new Fall 2012 simulcasts will be supported as well as existing hits including NARUTO SHIPPUDEN, BLEACH, SPACE BROTHERS, and SWORD ART ONLINE.
Brazil, as a country, is deeply influenced by Japanese culture boasting 1.5 million Japanese descendants, the largest number of any country outside of Japan. In addition to many Japanese festivals and cultural ties, Anime has a large fan base in the country. Mainstream Anime conventions attract over 120,000 attendees in São Paulo each summer.
"We are thrilled to be able to provide licensed Anime to the fifth largest Internet market in the world," said Brady McCollum, COO, Crunchyroll. "With the recent launch and success of our Spanish service in Latin America, we are very excited to continue to expand our service to Brazil. Crunchyroll is truly globalizing Asian content, our viewers access our service from over 216 countries and we have paying subscribers from 161 countries."
Current Crunchyroll titles can be accessed from Crunchyroll.com, the free iPad and iPhone application, the Android application, the Windows® Phone application, PS3™, Google TV, Samsung TV, Roku, Boxee, Vizio VIA, WD TV Live and additional set-top channels, and affiliate partners.
