WARREN, R.I. (AP) -- A former school building in Warren is undergoing a $3.2 million renovation into a workspace for culinary entrepreneurs.
Hope & Main LLC says the 17,500-square-foot space that was formerly the Main Street School will house a range of food-related businesses and entrepreneurs. It will include several shared-use commercial kitchens, including a gluten-free kitchen, as well as a demonstration kitchen, a classroom for education and training events, and a community room.
Hope & Main bought the building from the town in June after nearly three years of trying to secure funding for the incubator project. It's being funded primarily by a $3 million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
A groundbreaking was held Friday.
Hope & Main is a nonprofit that helps food-based entrepreneurs produce and sell their products.
