DailyFX Webinar Schedule: Week of December 2, 2012

The markets may be focused on a few particular events for the overall wellbeing of the global financial market (the Fiscal Cliff and Euro-area financial crisis), but there is plenty of event risk on the docket to spark volatility for individual currencies. The primary theme of the week looking at the calendar is monetary policy.

We have rate decisions from the ECB, BoE, RBA, RBNZ and BoC. Traders should be most interested in the ECB decision due to their participation in trying to rescue the region and the RBA since there is considerable expectation for a 25-bps cut.

Heading into the end of the year, market conditions are growing extremely warped. Seasonally, we expect speculative participation to drop off. That said, we have looming threats to financial stability to the magnitude of a Fiscal Cliff. Furthermore, we know that volatility measures are already at five-year lows while volume figures in the capital market are at more than decade lows. If it is a congestive period as usual, it will not be quiet ranges…
