Subaru's 2012 US sales jump 26 percent on gains for Impreza, Outback

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (AP) -- Subaru of America Inc. said Thursday that 2012 U.S. sales jumped 26 percent on big gains for the Impreza compact car and Outback wagon and steady sales of the Forester SUV.

BY THE NUMBERS: Subaru said that it sold 336,441 vehicles last year, up from 266,989 in 2011. In December, sales rose 9 percent to 36,653 from 33,701 a year earlier.

TOP SELLER: Subaru sold 117,553 Outbacks, an increase of 13 percent.

HOT MODELS: Sales of the Impreza rose 149 percent to 68,175, but sales of the high-performance Impreza WRX declined 1 percent to 13,624.
