Dee Downing Announces the Release of His Unique Musical A New Testament Gospera
The Movie-Musical is Based on the Four Gospels of the New Testament
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / MAy 2, 2016 / Dee Downing, a music writer with decades of experience, is pleased to announce the launch of his musical A New Testament Gospera. The unique movie-musical is based on the four gospels of the New Testament and features 26 original scores from the hip-hop, pop, rhythm and blues and light rock genres.
As Downing noted, A New Testament Gospera tells the musical story of a modern day missionary who has a traumatic experience that teleports her back in time 2,000 years. Much to her surprise, she meets the famous Messiah during her journey, who is well known for his ability to challenge injustice and oppression that are brought on by evil men.
During the musical, the missionary must learn if her modern, 21st century way of thinking will mesh with the Messiah's mission, or if his goals will be compromised.
"Each scene is similar to a music video segment just waiting to happen. Performed in sequence, they convey the gospel story in a whole new way," Downing said.
Downing is no stranger to writing music. He is inspired by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and the late Reverend Andre Crouch, who Downing said had the impressive ability to superimpose his personal testimonies onto different musical genres.
"I think this project is sort of a tribute to these two individuals," Downing said.
In order to pay for the costs that are associated with producing A New Testament Gospera, Downing recently launched a fundraiser on Kickstarter. He hopes to use crowdfunding to raise $10,000.
As Downing noted, he is working with the world's first online film industry marketplace where the various entities involved in making a movie--for example, the actors, directors, producers, film crews, production crews, sound engineers and others--come together to make movies.
"Funds raised during the Kickstarter campaign will help pay for the production costs of my new movie-musical," he said.
