Delaware unveils new Keno game

Delaware unveils new Keno game, expected to bring in $1M by June 30

DOVER, Del. (AP) -- Delaware gamblers can now add Keno to the list of offerings seeking their dollars.

The new game was launched Tuesday at 81 bars, restaurants and other businesses. Lottery officials say they expect the game to bring in $1 million by June 30, which is down from the $1.6 million originally projected when legislation authorizing Keno was passed last summer.

State officials had hoped to have 100 locations by the end of last year.

State Lottery Director Vernon Kirk said he expects big things from the game, which has drawings every four minutes and got off to a good start Tuesday.

Delaware is one of 14 states with Keno. Maryland has more than 2,800 locations generating $381 million in 2011, $110 million of which went to the state.
