Emerging Global Advisors on Thursday rolled out a new dividend ETF designed to give investors exposure to emerging markets. The ETF joins a growing field of developing market equity funds that concentrate on dividend payers.
The new EGShares EM Dividend High Income (EMHD) tracks an equal-weighted FTSE index that has a dividend yield of nearly 9% and screens for emerging market companies that have consistently generated high income for shareholders.
“The rise of emerging market-based multinationals has greatly expanded the number of companies with the capacity to sustain high dividend payments,” said Marten Hoekstra, chief executive of EGA.
EMHD has an expense ratio of 0.85%.
Other ETFs in the emerging market dividend category include WisdomTree Emerging Markets Equity Income (DEM), SPDR S&P Emerging Markets Dividend (EDIV), EGShares Emerging Markets Dividend Growth ETF (EMDG) and iShares Emerging Markets Dividend ETF (DVYE). [Emerging Market ETFs with a Dividend Focus]
