GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Dollar General Corp. said Wednesday that it named Sandy Cochran, president and CEO of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc., to its board.
The election of Cochran, which was effective Wednesday, increases the Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based discount retailer's board to nine directors and its total number of independent directors — those not employed by the company — to five.
Cochran joined Cracker Barrel in 2009 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. She was named as its president and chief operating officer the following year, before moving to her current job in September 2011.
Dollar General shares fell 94 cents, or 2 percent, to $47 in morning trading. Its shares peaked for the past year at $56.04 in July. They fell as low as $38.85 last December.
