Dollar General's bid still alive

Family Dollar (FDO) has turned down Dollar General's (DG) takeover bid but reportedly would still consider the offer over Dollar Tree's (DLTR) if there were certainty of gov't approval. Family Dollar says Dollar General would have to sell several hundred more stores than its proposed 700, sources told Bloomberg. But Wolfe Research says that Family Dollar is exaggerating its antitrust concerns, and the deal would provide more competition to Wal-Mart (WMT). Family Dollar shares rose 0.3% to 79.67. Dollar General rose 0.1% to 63.68. Dollar Tree fell 0.03% to 54.26.
