Duke Energy promotes Chief Accounting Officer Steve Young to chief financial officer post

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Electric utility Duke Energy Corp. named Steve Young as its chief financial officer Tuesday, replacing Lynn Good, who was promoted to president and CEO in July.

Young, 55, has been the company's controller and chief accounting officer since 2005. He will continue to lead the controller's office until Duke Energy finds a replacement.

Good became the company's president and CEO July 1. Former CEO Jim Rodgers agreed to step down from the company as part of a settlement with North Carolina regulators after Duke Energy acquired Progress Energy in 2012.
