Dunkin' to Offer Summer Coffee & Latte Options - Analyst Blog
Dunkin’ Donuts — part of Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc. DNKN — announced a spring and summer platter comprising various innovative offerings. Dunkin’ will team up with its sister brand, Baskin-Robbins, to re-introduce coffees and lattes featuring ice cream flavors. It is the third successive year that Dunkin’ has associated with Baskin-Robbins during spring to serve seasonal menu items.
Dunkin’ will bring back the popular Cookie Dough and Butter Pecan flavors, along with a new addition, Rocky Road. All three flavors are offered in Hot and Iced Coffee as well as Lattes.
The new Rocky Road Coffee and Lattes will feature rich chocolate, marshmallow and almond flavors. The Butter Pecan will have butter roasted pecan and sweet cream flavors, while Cookie Dough will consist of cookies and coffee. The flavors will be available throughout spring and summer in the U.S.
A recent study by restaurant consultancy Technomic, shows that cafes are the fastest-growing segment in the fast-food industry, with sales up 9% last year. In our view, Dunkin' Donuts’ seasonal menu offerings will not only tap into the thriving demand for coffee but also bring in seasonal innovations in the platter — an important strategy to remain afloat in the highly competitive industry.
In fact, Dunkin’ is continuously strengthening its product portfolio with significant innovation in coffee, and refreshment, and enhancing its core food offerings. Last summer, the company unveiled the Eggs Benedict Breakfast Sandwich, comprising an egg, Black Forest ham and Hollandaise spread. Further, last summer, the company added seasonal flavors to its popular freshly brewed Iced Tea.
