AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwired - May 21, 2013) - AkzoNobel intends to concentrateits Dutch-based management personnel in a newoffice building in the Zuidas business district of Amsterdam from the endof2015.
The move will bring the majority of corporate and business management andtheirsupporting staff in the Netherlands together at a single location,promotingcross-company collaboration. Currently, head office and Dutch-basedbusinessunit management and their supporting staff are spread across four officelocations.
The new building will enable a rationalization of AkzoNobel's officefootprint,leading to clear cost savings. Following the relocation, the company willnolonger have offices in Amersfoort and Hoofddorp. The relocation will havenodirect consequences in terms of employment opportunities and employees havebeeninformed about the plans.
When the company's headquarters moved from Arnhem to Amsterdam in 2007,AkzoNobel signed a contract to become the tenant of a new building toreplacethe current temporary office space on the Zuidas.
The construction of the new AkzoNobel Center, which is being built by DuraVermeer and will be owned by the German Union Investment Group, has nowstartedand is expected to take two-and-a-half years.
Approximately 700 employees will work from the new Center, which will bedesigned according to the latest sustainability norms and office layoutprinciples.
