NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of some top utilities companies are up at 10 a.m.:

American Electric Power Co. rose $.22 or .6 percent, to $38.20.

Consolidated Edison Inc. Holding Co. rose $.25 or .4 percent, to $59.84.

Dominion Resources Inc. rose $.14 or .3 percent, to $52.64.

Duke Energy Corp. rose $.18 or .8 percent, to $21.98.

Exelon rose $.19 or .5 percent, to $37.05.

PG&E rose $.17 or .4 percent, to $44.03.

Southern Co. rose $.18 or .4 percent, to $45.78.

    I have been with Duke for 10 years-it does not go up or down alot but pays a nice divd every yr (over 5%). Hard to get that with a CD. If it ever drops under $19 again-I'm buying.

      Stay with your DUK. I rotated out of utes in the fall of 2011 and getting back in them and pharma now. Look at AZN.

      Gold is WAY overpriced and dividends are almost non existent..If you want great returns get into MLPs..like KMP..Pipeline companies make great profits cause drilling companies have to use them to send oil and gas to refineries,and thats where they cash on volume sent

    Previous close for AEP on Feb 7 was $39.88. Today they show previous close as $39.41?? Can someone explain the difference?
