NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire -01/09/12)- Elektra recording artist Ed Sheeran has announced details of his upcoming North American tour. The eagerly awaited dates -- which see the acclaimed British singer/songwriter traveling as special guest on Snow Patrol's 2012 North American Tour -- get underway March 29th at Orlando, Florida's Hard Rock Live and then continue through mid-May (see itinerary below).

In addition, Sheeran has slated a series of high profile showcase performances, including a pair of sold out shows at New York's famed Mercury Lounge on January 30th and 31st as well as February 2nd date at Los Angeles' Hotel Café. The upcoming tour schedule celebrates the recent release of Sheeran's US debut EP, "THE A TEAM." The EP features four extraordinary tracks, previously unreleased in the US, including the blockbuster UK hit single, "The A Team." A special iTunes version of the EP -- available exclusively via the iTunes Store -- is augmented by an additional track, "Grade 8 (Live At The iTunes Festival London)."

"The A Team" proved an unqualified sensation upon its initial June 2011 release overseas, debuting at #3 on the UK Singles Chart. The track spent 11 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, making history as 2011's highest charting, biggest selling debut single. Last September saw the release of Sheeran's full-length debut, "+," which entered the charts at #1 with the highest opening sales figures for a debut artist ever and has remained in the top 10 ever since. Having now made history as the best selling debut album by a UK male artist in the last 10 years, the 2x-platinum certified collection was also one of the country's top 10 selling albums of 2011 and recently returned to the #1 position on the first UK Albums Chart of 2012.
