Edward Snowden's father flies to Russia, hopes to see son


MOSCOW, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Former U.S. spy agency contractorEdward Snowden's father arrived in Moscow on Thursday and saidhe hopes to see his son, who was granted asylum in Russia afterhe leaked details of government surveillance programmes and fledthe United States.

Speaking to journalists at a Moscow airport, Lon Snowdensaid he had not had any direct contact with Edward Snowden butthat he felt "extreme gratitude that my son is safe and secureand he's free."
