SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 19, 2013) - Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today announced Lifeboat Distribution, an international specialty software distributor, master distributor for Embarcadero's software development solutions. This extends an existing 10-year relationship between the two companies.
The industry is seeing a continued rise in popularity of mobile computing in the workplace and beyond. Given this, the mobile applications market is booming. Embarcadero recently announced a near doubling of the demand for its multi-device and multi-language application development technologies in the third quarter of 2013. The extended Embarcadero-Lifeboat partnership will allow Embarcadero to expand its market reach for its products and meet the high mobile demand by tapping into Lifeboat's broad reseller network in the United States and Canada.
"The growing demand for high-quality mobile applications presents a major business opportunity for those who can meet the development needs of this hot sector," said Tony de la Lama, senior vice president of marketing and R&D at Embarcadero Technologies. "We are committed to helping developers solve today's unique mobile and multi-device development challenges and committed to growing our channel presence to do so. Lifeboat shares our focus on software development, has a proven track record of success among resellers and is considered a true extension of Embarcadero's sales team so we are thrilled to build upon on our market leadership and penetration with their help."
Embarcadero has had a long and successful relationship with Lifeboat, with the companies entering into a formal partnership in 2003 when Lifeboat started distributing Embarcadero's Borland and CodeGear products. Under the terms of the new agreement, Lifeboat will expand Embarcadero's reach and distribute its extensive portfolio of application development solutions, including RAD Studio XE5, Delphi XE5, C++Builder XE5 and InterBase XE3, to its North American network of solution providers, VARs, systems integrators, corporate resellers (LARs, DMRs) and consultants. Customers will benefit from Lifeboat's deep software development expertise, shared vision for supporting mobile applications and knowledge of Embarcadero products.
"We are delighted to partner with Embarcadero on the expansion of their channel program," said Dan Jamieson, vice president and general manager at Lifeboat Distribution. "With the booming market and strong demand for mobile applications, resellers are seeing tremendous business opportunity with Embarcadero's RAD Studio XE5 technologies, as their customers look for effective ways to build multi-platform applications without having to sacrifice quality, functionality or performance."
Lifeboat is highly regarded within the reseller community as the distributor of choice for complex, technical software. The distributors' representatives are experts at assisting resellers in servicing the IT community. With regular training and certification in the software products they sell, they have deep expertise in software development, providing resellers with the specialized knowledge and counsel they need to succeed.
