COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Entergy Corp.'s Palisades nuclear power plant in southwestern Michigan is being shut down to repair a steam leak inside the plant's auxiliary building.

Plant spokesman Mark Savage says in an email that operators removed the plant in Van Buren County's Covert Township from service Sunday afternoon. Savage says the leak can't be isolated or repaired with the plant in service, and the plant will be returned to service following repairs.

The plant has been designated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as one of the nation's four worst-performing nuclear plants. Plant officials have said they've been working to improve the plant's safety culture.

Word of the leak comes after the plant received a passing review from federal authorities following simulated emergency exercises last week.
