Enterprise Holdings Delivers With Compressed Natural Gas Trucks for Small Business Customer Orange Courier, Inc.

Enterprise Answers the Call for More Alternative-Fuel Vehicles

Marketwired

SANTA ANA, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 3, 2012) - As the demand for environmentally friendly vehicles continues to rise, Enterprise Holdings is meeting the need by delivering alternative-fuel vehicles to its customers. The company, which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, recently finalized a deal that provides Orange Courier, Inc., of Santa Ana with two compressed natural gas (CNG) delivery trucks.

The CNG trucks enable Orange Courier to respond to requests from customers to improve the sustainability of its operations, as it provides on-demand, same-day messenger, delivery and distribution services to customers around the globe.

"CNG delivery vehicles are a particularly effective way we can reduce the environmental impact of our business," said Orange Courier owner Evell Stanley. "Enterprise allows us to improve our operations and provide a new service offering to customers who are increasingly looking for environmentally sustainable business partners -- and do it without a large upfront investment."

According to the United States Department of Energy (DOE), natural gas vehicles emit 30 to 40 percent less greenhouse gas emissions and 60 to 90 percent less smog-producing pollutants than a traditional gasoline vehicle. Natural gas is also a domestically-produced and less-expensive alternative to gasoline and diesel fuels, with nearly 87 percent of the natural gas in the United States being produced domestically.

This announcement reaffirms Enterprise's commitment and efforts to embrace new technologies as they become widely available.

"Businesses that use alternative-fuel vehicles in their corporate fleets will lower their own carbon footprint and, in effect, improve the environmental footprint of their customers," said Greg Tabak, director of EV programs for Southern California, Enterprise Rent-A-Car. "Enterprise is working with all corporate customers to provide a total transportation solution, and part of that includes offering CNG and other sustainable alternatives."

In addition to offering customers alternative-fuel vehicles, Enterprise also supports renewable fuels research. Since 2006, Enterprise's owners, the Taylor family, have given $35 million to the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and its Enterprise Rent-A-Car Institute for Renewable Fuels. At the Enterprise Institute, scientists are researching and developing new and sustainable methods of creating next-generation biofuels from nonfood crops that someday could be used to power cars, trucks and aircraft, reducing environmental impact and the nation's dependence on foreign fuel sources.
