ETF Fund Flows: XLE Pulls In $913.4 Million

Investors plowed $913.4 million into the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE - News), making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Creations” list. Stocks were up as Greek polls indicating support for the euro provided a positive signal for investors that Greece might stay in the eurozone.

Net flows were $467.2 million and total assets under management rose to more than $1.150 trillion from $1.139 trillion on Tuesday, May 29.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 125.86 points, or 1.01 percent, to close at 12,580.6. Stocks were up after a volatile day as investors gained reassurance from polls in Greece that showed support for pro-eurozone political parties in that country’s upcoming June 17 elections. The S'P 500 was up 14.60 points, or 1.11 percent, to close at 1,332.42.

The No. 2 fund on the creations list was the iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond Fund (HYG - News), with $150.6 million in inflows. The No. 3 fund on the list was the SPDR S'P Retail ETF (XRT - News), which had almost $57.0 million.

U.S.-focused equity ETFs had inflows of $383.3 million. U.S.-focused fixed-income ETFs had inflows of almost $380.0 million.

Redemptions

Investors pulled $474. 5 million from the SPDR S'P 500 ETF (SPY - News), making it No. 1 on IndexUniverse’s “Top 10 Redemptions” list.

The No. 2 fund on the redemptions list was the PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ - News), which suffered $204.3 million in outflows. The No. 3 fund on the list was the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA - News), which had $106.7 million in outflows.
