F5 Networks Widens Product Portfolio with New Big-IP Suite

F5 Networks Inc. (FFIV) recently unveiled the latest Synthesis of Software Defined Application Services (:SDAS) for its flagship Big-IP solutions. Per company “F5 Synthesis enables customers to rapidly and cost-effectively provision layer 4-7 services to anyone at any time without constraints”.

SDAS is a networking approach, which helps to enable real-time, event-driven changes that meet the growing demand for data center solutions across the enterprise sector. Another important factor for choosing SDAS technology is that it is applicable for both private and public cloud infrastructures.

The BIG-IP product suite helps in application delivery services through equal load balancing and service offloading. The BIG-IP system (physical or virtual) runs on the Linux operating system and acts as a network appliance, which is placed in a data center between a firewall and application servers ensuring prompt and secure delivery across IT systems.

The version 11.6 adds virtual capabilities to the existing offering, giving customers flexibility in virtual or physical deployment of the application. The solution will help meet particular business needs without sacrificing performance, reliability or scalability.

The offering helps customers manage multiple BIG-IP Application Delivery Controller (ADC) devices. It also improves the visibility of network traffic and device performance, significantly reducing complexities and costs for customers.

We believe that the latest release will augment the demand for F5 Networks’ BIG-IP products, thereby securing revenue streams in the quarters to come. Moreover, these initiatives are expected to expand the company’s total addressable market (TAM) and result in new client wins.

Better execution and focus on enterprise and service providers have placed F5 Networks well in the application delivery controller market. The company is also keen on expanding its cloud exposure. Nevertheless, the volatile spending atmosphere and competition from Juniper Networks Inc. (JNPR) and Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) remain concerns.

Currently, F5 Networks has a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). Inventors may also consider Micron Technology (MU), which carries the same Zacks Rank as F5 Networks.
