Today's economic calendar will focus on retail data, factory orders, automotive sales, and minutes from the last meeting.
The ICSC-Goldman store sales will be released at 7:45 a.m. ET, followed by Redbook retail figures at 8:55 a.m. ET.
Next on the docket is the factory orders report at 10 a.m. ET, which is expected to show a gain of 1.5 percent, compared with the last reading of -1 percent. Estimates range from 0.8 percent to 2 percent.
The Federal Open Market Committee minutes from last month's meeting will be released at 2 p.m. ET. FOMC minutes can inject volatility into the market if they contain any surprises.
At the same hour, motor vehicle sales for March will be released. Domestic sales are expected to come in at 11.3 million vehicles from a range of 11.2 million to 11.5 million.
