FedEx Addresses Tossed Monitor

Mike Krumboltz reports:

It was the monitor toss seen 'round the world. FedEx has responded to a viral video that showed one of the company's drivers throwing a (now broken) computer monitor over a fence.

The statement reads: The situation has now been resolved to the customer's satisfaction, and we are handling the employee according to our disciplinary policies...While we continue to be surprised about the behavior shown, we know this is an aberration and is not reflective of the outstanding FedEx customer service that makes us proud around the world.

"I want you to know that I was upset, embarrassed, and very sorry for our customer’s poor experience," said Matthew Thornton, a FedEx senior vice president. "We have met with the customer face to face and they already have a  replacement monitor at no cost to them.  They have accepted our apology and say they are fully satisfied with what we've done in response to this unacceptable delivery."

The clip has racked up more than 2 million views. In the video's description, the poster writes, "The sad part is that I was home at the time with the front door wide open. All he would have had to do was ring the bell on the gate. Now I have to return my monitor since it is broken." The footage appears to come from a surveillance camera.

There is no word on what sort of disciplinary action will be taken against the employee. However, a spokeswoman for the company told the U.K.'s Daily Mail, this won't be his best day.

In this time of high unemployment, I can't believe that someone would be that uncaring about his position and have no sense of responsibility. He needs to be fired! There are a lot of people out there that are responsible that would give anything to have a decent job. Shame on this guy.

what a jack!!! he should be fired and fined for the customers computer monitor. He must not care about his job at all. Why would anyone want him as an employee.

How dumb can one be??? You see on the box itself what you're delivering. JUST PLAIN LAZY

Smaller things than this have taken down companies. PR nightmare!

Still doesn't beat Ace Ventura punting the box down the hallway. "We're going downtown!"

In all honesty though, the guy could clearly see what the box was. Why in the world would he throw it?

I'm a fedex courier, all the couriers at my station were appalled! Our job is like any other customer service job. only as good as the person doing it. I am proud and strive to be the best. please dont base the opinion of the whole company on one bad individual. I love my job, and I love seeing customers happy!

That guy had BETTER be fired immediate!!!

    Completely egregious failure!!!
  • A  •  2 months ago
He shouldn't be just fired. He should be forced (w/o or w/) a lawsuit to not only pay for this monitor and all the other packages he's done this to, but also be forced to pay for killing the good image of all the other hard working delivery drivers.

Give the job to somebody who really deserves it, or maybe somebody who can walk to the door rather than tossing things across the fence!!!

Fire him ! but....i've dealt with fedex for 30years....this is not a reflection on the company.
i've never had a problem with them. this guy had a bad day, bad attitude, and deliberately wanted to have FEDex pay! fire him !

I have had hundreds of packages delivered by Fed Ex and find this nut job is an exception to the rule. My delivery men have always been polite and professional in their job of safely delivering all packages ordered. I am glad this jerk got caught on tape and hope that charges are brought against him. I don't care how bad his day was going...he didn't need to take it out on people who sacrificed their money for the goods being delivered.
