FedEx blames miss on weak economy


Preliminary Numbers Miss Guidance

FedEx said it earned $1.37 to $1.43 a share in the first quarter ended last week. That's down from earlier guidance of $1.45 to $1.60. Management blamed a weak global economy for the miss. FDX drops 3 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

Guidewire Crushes the Street

Guidewire Software earned $0.10 a share in its fourth quarter, on revenue of $67.6 million. Analysts had expected $0.04 of profit and $62.3 of revenue. GWRE rallies 13 percent on the news.

Finisar Results Lag Estimates

Finisar reported earned $0.12, about $0.02 less than the Street expected. Revenue of $220.53 million trailed the $226.28 million consensus number. Guidance was also weak for the current quarter. FNSR was down more than 2 percent but is now cutting those losses.
