A few hundred outages remain in Rhode Island after weekend snowstorm

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- National Grid crews have restored power to all but a few hundred customers in Rhode Island after the weekend snowstorm.

The utility reported on Tuesday afternoon that only 230 customers were still in the dark, almost all of them in Washington County. About half are in South Kingstown. National Grid had reported 2,700 outages as of Tuesday morning.

Nearly 187,000 homes and businesses in Rhode Island lost power during the height of the storm last Friday and Saturday.

National Grid had hoped to restore all electricity in the state by Monday night.
