NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire -02/27/12)- Fiduciary Trust Company International, a leading wealth management firm headquartered in New York City, announced that Luke L. Fowler, executive vice president and head of business development, has been named to the firm's Board of Directors and will serve as a vice chairman. J. Chisholm Lyons, senior vice president of marketing, has been promoted to executive vice president of business development and marketing. Bill R. Barrett, who has served as president and chief executive officer of Fiduciary Trust Company International of California since 2001, will assume the role of chairman of the California company at the end of March.
Fowler previously served on the Fiduciary Trust Board from 1993 until 2006 when he joined the firm as a full-time employee responsible for business development. During his tenure as head of business development, he oversaw a significant expansion of Fiduciary Trust's sales force and a broadening of the firm's marketing capabilities. In his role as a vice chairman, Fowler will focus on the continued expansion of the firm's client base, as well as work toward Fiduciary Trust's global growth objectives.
"During the past five years, Fiduciary Trust has experienced historic levels of gross sales and net sales," said Henry P. Johnson, president and chief executive officer of Fiduciary Trust Company International. "That said, to measure Luke's contributions only in terms of sales volumes would be to understate his impact, and I look forward to his continued insights into the global opportunities we have as a wealth manager."
Prior to joining Fiduciary Trust in 2006, Fowler served for 12 years as chairman and CEO of Northcott Hospitality International LLC, and for 12 years at J.P. Morgan & Co. working in a variety of assignments in trust and investment, financial analysis and banking. He is chairman of the board of the Indian Mountain School of Lakeville, Connecticut, and serves on the boards of Franklin College of Lugano, Switzerland and the Island Community Center of Fisher's Island, New York. Fowler earned a B.S. from Tufts University.
Lyons, as executive vice president for business development and marketing, will oversee the management of the firm's sales and marketing team nationally. He will also join Fiduciary Trust's Management Committee and remain a member of the firm's Officers' Executive Committee.
"Chisholm has had a remarkable impact on the firm since joining Fiduciary Trust in 2006, and his expansion in responsibilities is a natural next step," said Johnson. "He is a proven leader, mentor and partner to countless professionals across the firm and the ideal person to lead the next stage of our sales and marketing strategy."
Lyons joined Fiduciary Trust from Franklin Templeton's Canadian subsidiary, where he served as director of marketing since 2001. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in marketing, advertising and public relations. Prior to his tenure at Franklin Templeton, Lyons held senior leadership positions at leading mutual fund firms in Canada. He received his B.A. from Huron College at the University of Western Ontario.
Barrett's career spans more than four decades. Prior to joining Fiduciary Trust in 2001 as president and chief executive officer of the firm's California business, he served for 14 years as managing director of Private Banking in the Western United States for U.S. Trust. Barrett earned a B.A. in political science from Brown University in 1968 and an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 until 1973 and attained the rank of captain. He is chairman of the board of Executive Services Corps of Southern California, and a board member of the St. Vincent Medical Center, California Science Center Foundation and Los Angeles Boy Scouts of America (past president). Barrett is Trustee of the Children's Burn Foundation and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Daughters of Charity Meals on Wheels Foundation.
