NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of some top coal companies were mixed at the close of trading:

Arch Coal rose $.02 or .1 percent, to $13.93.

Consol Energy Inc. fell $.40 or 1.1 percent, to $35.37.

Peabody Energy fell $.04 or .1 percent, to $35.76.
