Becton, Dickinson & Co. rose $.15 or .1 percent, to $100.17.
Covidien fell $.04 or .1 percent, to $65.21.
Patterson rose $.55 or 1.4 percent, to $39.55.
PerkinElmer fell $.06 or .2 percent, to $31.76.
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. fell $.59 or .7 percent, to $85.69.
Varian Medical Systems Inc. fell $.54 or .8 percent, to $67.89.
Waters rose $.47 or .5 percent, to $97.17.
