NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of some top supermarkets companies were down at the close of trading:
Kroger fell $.39 or 1.1 percent, to $35.13.
Safeway fell $.38 or 1.6 percent, to $23.56.
Supervalu fell $.16 or 2.5 percent, to $6.33.
Whole Foods Market Inc. fell $.80 or 1.5 percent, to $51.93.
