NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of some top tools and appliances companies were mixed at the close of trading:
General Electric Co. rose $.28 or 1.2 percent, to $24.17.
Snap-On rose $1.25 or 1.3 percent, to $100.75.
Stanley Works rose $1.79 or 2.0 percent, to $92.36.
Whirlpool Corp. fell $1.75 or 1.2 percent, to $144.69.
