NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of some top tools and appliances companies were up at the close of trading:
General Electric Co. rose $.56 or 2.4 percent, to $24.33.
Snap-On rose $.34 or .4 percent, to $92.21.
Stanley Works rose $.94 or 1.2 percent, to $80.98.
Whirlpool Corp. rose $.33 or .3 percent, to $129.61.
