We’re excited to share that Forbes recently featured Manilla as a leader in simplifying bill paying and account management. Contributor Adam Tanner states:
A number of services also simplify bill paying by allowing users to download statements from banks, utilities, insurance companies, credit cards, cell phone provider and merchants into one digital vault. These include Manilla which says it is the leader in the field with nearly a million active users, and doxo. Both make money from companies when they convert clients from paper billing to electronic. Users access Manilla and doxo free of charge.
Marc Karasu, Manilla’s vice president of marketing, says companies such as AT&T and Citi pay them roughly 25 to 35 cents per converted user per bill because they would otherwise spend a dollar printing out and sending each bill through the mail. Owned by the Hearst Corporation, the magazine and newspaper publisher, Manilla has revenues in the single digit millions. “It’s definitely challenging, it’s a new category,” he says. “There is that challenge of educating the companies.”
