FTI Consulting Boosts Australian Presence

FTI Consulting, Inc. (FCN), a global business advisory firm, recently announced the acquisition of Taylor Woodings - an Australian specialist corporate advisory firm - for an undisclosed amount. Post-acquisition, all the business assets of Taylor Woodings will be a part of the Corporate Finance/Restructuring practice of FTI Consulting.

The transaction is a win-win situation for both the companies. Taylor Woodings has a considerable footprint in Australia and is focused on corporate recovery, restructuring, advisory and forensic services. The company has an in-depth industry expertise in the critical property, construction and mining industries. By collaborating with FTI Consulting, Taylor Woodings will offer its customers a global platform and enhance its own growth prospects in the Asia-Pacific region.

On the other hand, the acquisition significantly enhances FTI Consulting’s corporate finance and restructuring services in Australia by integrating the senior executives of Taylor Woodings, including some 80 professionals and 9 managing directors. The expanded network in Australia with an experienced team is expected to reap synergistic benefits for both the companies.

FTI Consulting primarily caters to the needs of its global clients by providing financial advisory services. The company’s strategy to expand through acquisitions, particularly in the international markets, remains one of its key growth drivers.

Based in Baltimore, MD., FTI Consulting provides specialized consulting services across 24 foreign countries with a total headcount of more than 3,900 employees. The company has a team of highly qualified professionals who provide problem-solving and technology services primarily to major corporations, financial institutions and law firms.

FTI Consulting faces stiff competition from other players in the industry, which include formidable names such as CoreLogic, Inc (CLGX) and CRA International Inc (CRAI). FTI Consulting currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). One of its competitors, Towers Watson & Co (TW) carries a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
