Futures point to higher open

Stock futures are pointing to a higher open as investors return from the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The second quarter earnings season is set to begin tonight after the close when Alcoa (AA) reports its results. The early strength in the futures is likely the result of Friday’s stronger than expected jobs report. The futures are advancing despite investors' belief that the Fed will begin scaling back its bond buying program as early as September.
