For the contest, GEICO invited elementary and middle school students (grades K-8) to create a hand-drawn or computer-generated poster featuring an original superhero character that promoted safe drives messages such as the importance of wearing safety belts, preventing distracted driving and not speeding. High school students (grades 9-12) participated in the contest by creating a promotional video that emphasized either the dangers of distracted driving or the importance of not driving while impaired (under the influence of alcohol or drugs).

Serving as judges for this year’s competition were Laurel Sims of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; Alexandra Holiday from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety; and Karen Violette, senior graphic designer with GEICO. Each winner received a cash prize.
