GM documents show senior executive had role in ignition switch, WSJ reports

Federal prosecutors are issuing grand jury subpoenas in connection with GM's (GM) delay in responding to an ignition switch defect as new documents raise questions about the automaker's assessment, reports the Wall Street Journal. According to documents released by a house panel, a high-ranking GM executive knew about the issues in 2005 and GM engineer Raymond DeGiorgio had unsuccessfully pushed for a change in the switch in the Chevrolet Cobalt and other cars. Delphi Automotive (DLPH) said it received a grand jury subpoena and turned over documents relating to the production and design of ignition switches used in GM cars.
