GM makes more cuts in Russia

Amid a realignment of Russian operations, General Motors (GM) cut production at its Opel plant in St. Petersburg to 1 shift a day, offered voluntary buyout packages to about 500 employees there and named Susanna Weber president of GM Russia. It's the 2nd drawdown for Opel in 2 months at the site after it suspended manufacturing there from Aug. 22 to Sept. 12. Economic turmoil is roiling Russia's economy, cutting car sales amid sanctions imposed for its incursion into Ukraine. Shares rose 0.2% to 33.71.
